QNT Asset Information

Understand QNT, Quant and Overledger.

This page provides stable background information for interpreting ReguMetric's QNT intelligence. It is intentionally separate from live market, regulatory, institutional, exchange, liquidity, blockchain, social, ETF and News Intelligence.

The Asset
QNT

An ERC-20 utility token associated with Quant's technology ecosystem.

The Technology
Overledger

Quant's API-based interoperability platform for connecting applications, existing systems and multiple distributed ledgers.

The Company
Quant

A UK-based technology company focused on interoperability and digital-finance infrastructure. Quant and the QNT token are related, but they are not the same thing.

What Is QNT?

ERC-20 Token

QNT is an Ethereum-based ERC-20 token. It should not be confused with a native coin of a separate “Quant blockchain.”

Utility

Quant has documented QNT as a utility token used within the Overledger ecosystem, including transaction-related functions and historically certain platform licensing/payment functions.

Separate From Overledger

QNT is the token. Overledger is the interoperability technology. Understanding that distinction is important when interpreting QNT-related developments.

What Is Overledger?

Interoperability Layer

Overledger is designed to reduce the complexity of working across different blockchains and distributed-ledger technologies through standardized APIs.

Not Another Blockchain

Overledger acts as an abstraction and integration platform. Quant describes it as orchestrating interactions between ledgers rather than storing the underlying ledger data itself.

Enterprise Integration

It is designed so developers and enterprises can connect existing systems to blockchain networks without rebuilding every integration separately for each network.

Tokenisation & Digital Finance

Quant positions Overledger for use cases including tokenised assets, payments, smart contracts, digital money and connections among different networks.

Why Interoperability Matters

Different Networks

Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Ledger, enterprise ledgers and other networks use different architectures and interfaces. Interoperability technology aims to make systems work across those boundaries.

Existing Financial Systems

Interoperability can also involve connecting traditional enterprise systems with distributed ledgers rather than requiring every organization to operate entirely on one blockchain.

Network Agnostic

Overledger is designed around a chain-agnostic approach so applications can interact with supported networks through a common integration layer.

QNT Utility & Token Economics

Platform Utility

Quant has described QNT as powering functions in the Overledger ecosystem. Older Quant documentation includes QNT-denominated transaction processing and the ability to pay certain Overledger licence fees in QNT.

Ethereum Infrastructure

Because QNT is an ERC-20 token, transfers of QNT occur using Ethereum token infrastructure rather than on a dedicated QNT ledger.

Read Current Terms Carefully

Platform pricing, licensing and product architecture can evolve. ReguMetric therefore separates established token background from current Quant product terms instead of assuming every historical mechanism remains unchanged.

Utility explains how an asset can function in an ecosystem. It does not establish future demand, price performance, or investment value.

History & Origins

2018

Quant was founded in the UK. Gilbert Verdian is the company's founder and CEO.

2018

Quant publicly demonstrated Overledger as technology intended to connect multiple ledgers and enable multi-ledger applications.

2020–21

Overledger evolved into a SaaS and API-oriented architecture, with Quant documenting expanded APIs, network integrations and QNT utility mechanisms.

Today

Quant continues to position Overledger and related technology around interoperability, tokenisation, payments and digital-finance infrastructure for institutions, enterprises and developers.

Quant, QNT & the Ecosystem

Quant

The company develops Overledger and related digital-finance technology and works with financial institutions, enterprises and developers.

QNT Holders

Owning QNT means holding the digital token. It does not by itself represent ownership of Quant the company.

Developers & Institutions

Organizations can use Quant technology to build integrations and digital-finance applications. Their use of Overledger should not automatically be interpreted as direct QNT ownership or investment.

Terms New Investors Will See

Interoperability

The ability of separate systems or networks to exchange information or work together.

DLT

Distributed Ledger Technology: a broader category of shared ledger systems that includes blockchains.

API

An application programming interface: a standardized way for software systems to communicate.

ERC-20

A widely used Ethereum token standard defining common token behavior and interfaces.

Tokenisation

Representing money, securities, assets or rights digitally using distributed-ledger infrastructure.

Chain-Agnostic

Technology designed not to depend exclusively on one particular blockchain.

Why This Background Matters

QNT is different from assets that are the native coin of their own Layer-1 blockchain. Separating the ERC-20 token from Quant the company and Overledger the interoperability platform makes regulatory, institutional, network, market and adoption evidence much easier to interpret correctly.
